For Boyds Resin, the symbols are printed on the bottom of the piece, i.e. if the piece reads 1E/100 on the bottom then this resin figurine comes from the first edition and was the one hundreth piece created. 1E pieces can be identified by a red dot on the bottom of the box; and 2E pieces are identified by a royal blue dot on the bottom of the box. On occassion, Boyd's also introduces "Limited Edition" pieces which are very special and sought after by many Boyds Bears collectors. The Limited Edition pieces can be identified on the bottom with 'Limited Edition/10' which would mean this was the tenth piece to be created within this Limited Edition. Once a certain number of cold cast resin figurines are poured, the mold is destroyed and never used again.
